Formed in May 2000, the Forum continues to hold its annual Gathering in May - an opportunity for members to come together for workshops, sharing practice and to hold the Annual General Meeting, where the Steering Group is elected. Courses are offered throughout the year and include the Teacher's Certificate Course, Courses for Health Professionals and Open Workshops on a variety of topics, requested by our members. These also provide an opportunity for Continuing Professional Development for our tutors. Tai Chi instructors whose students have particular health needs will benefit from Forum training which informs, supports and underpins their work. Healthcare professionals can learn how to incorporate Tai Chi and Chi Kung principles into their work.
Continuing Professional Development Workshops are led by leading practitioners in their fields and are open to all. Most courses are held at our base in Birmingham, Harborne Hall, which offers residential facilities, though we are developing more regional courses and our Health Professional Courses. are designed to be delivered on-site, in hospitals, day-centres etc.
The Forum has two membership levels:- Tutor Members have successfully completed our Teacher's Certificate Course, or satisfied the Steering Group that they have equivalent experience and training. Tutor Members are bound by the Forum's Code of Conduct. Associate Membership is open to all Tai Chi and Chi Kung players as well as healthcare professionals. All members receive discounts on courses and other events and Tutor Members are listed in the Forum's Find a Teacher section. Find out more about joining TCCKF here. Our Find a Teacher service lists the Forum's Tutor Members, their specialisms and region.
