'The Dao'
with Sue Hargreaves, LiBi Welthy and Annamarie McGregor.
Tai ji is variously understood as a Taoist art form, a martial art, or, with Qi Gong, as a branch of Chinese Medicine. The Forum in its choice of speakers and workshop leaders has explored all of these. This course will look at tai ji as a Taoist art, part of a cosmic understanding reflected in Chinese painting, calligraphy, poetry, music and the Tao classics such as I-Ching and Tao Te Ching. The course will focus on Qi (energy) and will cover: the Yin/Yang flow and counter balance; the energies of the Five Moving Forces; and the dancing calligraphy of the character Qi. The course is intended to deepen your understanding of Qi and the Tao in your own tai ji / qi gong practice, which in turn will add depth to your teaching, especially helping those with severely restricted physical movement.
