Following increasing interest and demand from the Health Care sector, the Forum has developed a range of courses, designed specifically to allow people already working in this field, to integrate T'ai Chi principles into their work and to feel confident in adapting traditional exercises and practices, for a variety of different circumstances. All courses include a range of seated and standing movement, with progression from simple to more complex patterns.
The Forum has a network of Tutors, some of whom are also physiotherapists, specialising in different areas of health care - e.g. Falls Prevention and care of the Elderly, Pain Physiology, Cancer Care, Learning Disabilities - who can provide valuable insight and expertise in combining their T'ai Chi and professional skills, in order to maximise the benefits to the patient.
The courses we are currently offering are outlined below and can be delivered on-site, for up to 20 people.
A 1-day Practical Introduction to T'ai Chi for Physiotherapists and Health Professionals.
• To introduce principles of T'ai Chi and demonstrate how these can be useful in their work.
A 4-day course - For working with specific client / patient groups e.g. Falls Prevention, Learning Disabilities, Palliative Care
• 2 x 2 days, with time between to integrate and evaluate.
• Delivered by two tutors and including a booklet and DVD for reference.
A 6-day course - T'ai Chi for Physiotherapists and Health Professionals.
• 3 x 2 days. This course is broader in content and is delivered by 4 tutors.
• It offers the same benefits as the 4-day course, plus more time for integration and
re-inforcement.
In addition, because of our wide range of experienced tutors, we can design a course around your specific needs - for example, learning difficulties, mental health, wheelchair-users, visual or hearing impairment.
