Our Founder, Linda Chase Broda

Linda Chase Broda
It was Linda Chase Broda who first had the idea to create a Forum of Tai Chi and Chi
Kung instructors - from any school or practising any form - whose students included
those who had special health needs. The Forum would support the exchange of
learning and information, provide training sessions where skills could be shared, and
uphold the principles of good practice; as a result, Tai Chi would be accessible to all.
Her vision was realised in May 2000.
From its inception, Linda has been a driving force behind the TCCKF and its steering
group, tirelessly and energetically supporting the Forum, first as Chair for three years,
then as Course Director for the past two. She has developed the website, acted as
administrator, developed important links with health care professionals and welcomed
us to the Village Hall in Manchester, hosting the many meetings and courses we have
held there. All this has been achieved alongside her own work and creative life.
Believing in the evolution of groups, Linda agreed to commit to three years' involvement
from the start, this led to five and she stepped down from the steering group at the last
May Gathering 2005. We miss her knowledge and her skills but also her warm and
unique presence.
New horizons have beckoned her, and us, too!
We owe a great debt to Linda's vision and as the work of the Forum continues we
appeal to our members to make their wishes known to us. We also ask those in the
field of health care to support this, our national voluntary group. There is an evergrowing
need for Tai Chi and Chi Kung to be shared equally and with everyone,
whatever their health need.
